The launch of the World's Largest Showcase of Wireless Connectivity
Solutions - Wireless Connectivity (WiCon) World took place on 8th - 10th
June in Amsterdam with over 1900 participants from 44 countries
attending over the 3 day show proving this was a truly global event.
Countries include:

United States...
The buzz on the exhibition floor and the packed out seminars only
reinforced the overall message at the show - that the market for
wireless connectivity is definitely moving forward!
The show highlighted the increasing shipment volumes for established technologies such as WLAN and Bluetooth. Bluetooth chipset shipments
doubled to 70 million in 2003.
Here is what the Bluetooth SIG had to say:
"I was very pleased with the attendance and quality of the press attending the new WiCon show", said Anders Edlund, Marketing Director for the Bluetooth SIG.
"Industry collaboration between all wireless technologies is essential to drive the growth of the wireless connectivity market and deliver
solutions to end users and the Bluetooth SIG was delighted to welcome the presence of other technologies at WiCon World".
There was also increasing interest in the emerging technologies such as Zigbee and UWB at the WiCon World show as these technologies make
their way to market. UWB products will have commercial proprietary solutions by the end of this year and Zigbee specification will be
finalised in Q4 leading to large scale commercial shipments in 2005.
Several leading industry associations have lent their support to WiCon World with the extended focus to include all wireless technologies.
Global Inventures, the "Official Technology Community Incubator" for Wireless Connectivity (WiCon) World represents WiMedia, ZigBee and OSGi
for WiCon and they said:
"Wireless Connectivity World is a great showcase of wireless connectivity solutions and Global Inventures is excited about our relationship with IBC and WiCon World," said Deepak Kamlani, President and CEO. "We are happy to bring three of our managed communities to the show this
year - ZigBee, WiMedia and OSGi. Attendees from all industry sectors - from automotive to healthcare, industrial to retail will see the
multitude of revenue opportunities and service offerings achievable with wireless connectivity."
The overall message at the event was that the key short range wireless technologies represented in WiCon World, including WiFi,
ZigBee, UWB, Bluetooth, will in the future converge and offer seamless mobility to drive a host of applications for the consumer
and enterprise markets.
